As an integral member of the Facilities, Management, Planning, Redevelopment and Operations (FM-PRO) department and under the direction of the Manager, Project Planning, the PROJECT MANAGER, PROJECT PLANNING takes a leadership role in the management, organization and orchestration of all aspects of planning for renovation projects within their portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with the FM-PRO leadership, UHN Executive Project sponsors and staff to understand and plan for key capital project initiatives as prioritized by the organization.
The principal responsibilities include:
Leading and driving the planning phase of renovation projects including development of and sign-offs of scope, schedules and budgets
Developing and implementing strategies to effectively manage the user group planning process
Performing financial management activities
Preparing and maintaining project documentation
Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions
Changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, and clients
Hiring and supervising the activities of consultants
Transitioning fully planned projects to the Redevelopment team to manage implementation and construction
Performing quality management responsibilities
Performing administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient operation of the department
Performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or requested
Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a recognized health administration, architectural, engineering, design technology, bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent required
Minimum of five (5) years related experience in either architectural / engineering / project management in a health sector or public sector context; or health care program and project management of strategic projects
Experience with Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (Ontario) Capital Planning highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required
Excellent time management and organizational skills required
Excellent problem recognition and resolution skills required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Excellent analytical skills required
Ability to produce high quality reports and meet scheduling deadlines required
Computer literacy required
