Support workers are needed to work as male role models for young boys and teens with special needs, cognitive delays, physical disabilities, mental health issues, etc.
Services are offered mostly in the community, but some in-home assistance may be required. Depending on the needs of the client, services may include companionship and/or relief care, while focusing on building positive relationships, independence, increasing daily life skills, exploring new hobbies and leisure activities, etc.
Weekly schedules are negotiable, starting with part-time hours. Full-time hours may eventually be available for those who request a larger case load. Support workers must be available to work with children outside of school hours.
Community support workers must transport clients and therefore have their own reliable vehicle with proper insurance and winter tires. Transportation/mileage expenses are reimbursed on top of hourly wages. Group health benefits are also available.
Minimum education requirement --> Human Services Diploma, Child & Youth Care Diploma, Educational Assistant Diploma, Daycare Assistant Diploma, etc. University degree in human social sciences will be considered.
Knowledge of New Brunswick's social system and experience driving in safe winter conditions are a large part of this position.
- Please note: PSW (Personal Support Worker) or other personal care training does not qualify for this position. This is NOT a homemaker or home care position. Housekeeping and bathing are not required.

Pay: $19.98 per hour
