About the Role
We are seeking reliable, hardworking, and professional Prep Cooks and Dishwashers to support our kitchen team during the busy summer camp season in Muskoka. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy working as part of a team in a positive camp setting.
Our staffing needs are primarily for peak-season emergency backfill coverage, so flexibility and readiness to step into an active camp environment are essential.
ResponsibilitiesPrep Cook
- Assist with food preparation and meal service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards
- Support cooks and kitchen leadership during meal periods
- Assist with inventory and basic kitchen setup
Dishwasher
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean and sanitary dish area
- Support kitchen staff with cleaning and organization
- Assist with garbage removal and kitchen closing duties
Requirements
- Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred
- Valid Food Handler Certification required for all cooking staff
- Ability to work in a live-on-site children’s camp environment
- Strong professionalism, reliability, and teamwork
- Respect for confidentiality, camper boundaries, and camp conduct policies
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
Worker Structure & Compliance
- Staff are classified as employees unless otherwise specified
- Payroll, statutory deductions, WSIB coverage, and applicable insurance are fully managed
- Ontario Temporary Help Agency licensing details available upon request
Screening & Safety Requirements
Because this position works within a children’s camp environment, all staff must complete screening requirements including:
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required)
- Background screening suitable for working around children
- Professional conduct acknowledgement
- Compliance with camp safety and confidentiality expectations
