Bilingual Summer Camp Counselor / Instructor (Summer 2026)

Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and organized bilingual (English/French) camp counselor to lead a small-group educational summer program in Montreal during summer 2026. The counselor will work directly with students in a classroom setting, facilitate engaging learning activities, supervise participants, and prepare instructional materials to ensure a successful and rewarding camp experience.
Classes will consist of approximately 8–10 students per session, allowing for individualized attention and meaningful student engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise students during scheduled camp sessions.
- Deliver program curriculum and facilitate hands-on learning activities.
- Create a safe, positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Manage classroom behavior and encourage active participation.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and classroom activities.
- Set up and organize materials before each session.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and program coordinators in both English and French as needed.
- Monitor attendance and ensure student safety throughout the program.
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization.
Program Schedule
The counselor is required to be present for the following camp dates and times:
- Thursday, July 9, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday, July 10, 2026: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Friday, July 17, 2026: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Friday, July 24, 2026: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Friday, July 31, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Monday, August 10, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tuesday, August 11, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday, August 12, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Thursday, August 13, 2026: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Time Commitment
- Approximately 61–65 hours of classroom instruction and student supervision.
- Approximately 20–25 hours of program preparation, lesson planning, and material development.
- Total estimated commitment: 100–110 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Experience working with children in educational, camp, tutoring, mentoring, or recreational settings.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students in a positive learning environment.
- Dependable, organized, and punctual.
- Ability to work independently and manage program preparation responsibilities.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada and eligible to work in Quebec.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and/or vulnerable sector screening if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching, education, recreation, or kids-program experience.
- Current first aid and CPR certification.
- Experience leading STEM, academic enrichment, arts, technology, or hands-on educational activities.
- Post-secondary studies or degree in Education, Recreation, Child Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to supervise kids throughout the day.
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in classroom activities.
- Ability to lift and move instructional materials and supplies as needed.
