Behavioural Health Practitioners are responsible for providing therapeutic support and skills-based interventions to young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and/or an Intellectual Disability (ID), and/or who present with complex behavioural needs, and their families. They provide support to families in a variety of ways, including direct intervention in the home, clinic and community. Specific duties and responsibilities include planning and participating in behavioural assessment and treatment design in collaboration with the Behavioural Health Supervisor; implementing skills-based treatment and universal protocols in both home and clinic settings; provide parent training and in vivo coaching on behavioural programming and provide ongoing support to caregivers including therapeutic respite care.
Qualifications: The successful applicant(s) must be creative, innovative, self-aware, confident, flexible, and energetic. A diploma/degree in child and youth care, community supports, or a related field, experience working with young people and families with complex needs, or an equivalent combination of the two is required. Applicants must have experience successfully de-escalating volatile and aggressive behaviour. Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care and intervention is a necessity. Preference given to those holding certification in any capacity with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (RBT, BCBA, BCaBA) or those pursuing certification. The successful applicant will be required to work selective evenings and weekends.
The position also requires a clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RNC or RCMP; Child Protection Record Check; First Aid/CPR certification; valid Driver’s license and use of a private vehicle while at work. Successful candidates must submit valid proof of residency.
