Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Cook, Chef, or Kitchen Helper to join our culinary team at an authentic Afghan restaurant. This role is essential in preparing and serving high-quality Afghan and Persian-inspired meals in a fast-paced food service environment.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for traditional cuisine, strong kitchen hygiene practices, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred; however, training will be provided for motivated candidates.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience preparing Afghan, Persian, Middle Eastern, or South Asian cuisine, including traditional dishes, spices, and cooking methods.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, marinating, mixing, and assembling ingredients for traditional dishes
- Cook and prepare meals according to restaurant recipes and presentation standards
- Prepare authentic Afghan and Persian dishes such as kebabs, rice dishes, curries, bread, and grilled items
- Serve food in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including sanitizing work surfaces and utensils
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and proper food handling procedures at all times
- Support the kitchen team during busy hours and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Assist with inventory management and restocking kitchen supplies as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous restaurant, kitchen, or food service experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Experience with Afghan, Persian, Middle Eastern, or related cuisine is highly preferred
- Familiarity with traditional spices, grilling, rice preparation, naan/bread making, and meat preparation is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper kitchen hygiene
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
