Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator to join our Manufacturing team. Reporting to the Lead Hand and Supervisor, this role is responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to produce high-quality wet mops, dust mops, and related textile-based cleaning products. The Sewing Operator plays an important role in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, and adherence to safety and manufacturing standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of industrial sewing machines used in the production of cleaning materials.
- Set up machines with appropriate materials, needles, and settings according to work order specifications.
- Assemble component parts to complete dry dusting mop assemblies.
- Attach fringe to backing material using lock stitch or chain stitch sewing machines.
- Work efficiently to meet production targets while maintaining consistent quality standards.
- Monitor output and identify opportunities to improve productivity and workflow.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet company specifications for durability, performance, and appearance.
- Identify and report quality issues or inconsistencies.
- Maintain accurate production counts and material usage records.
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve production challenges.
- Support overall manufacturing objectives through teamwork and clear communication.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous industrial, manufacturing or sewing experience considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise instructions.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Working Conditions and Requirements
- Based at our manufacturing facility located at 1725 Sargent Avenue.
- Standard shift is 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with flexibility required based on business needs.
- Ability to meet established production standards and timelines.
- Manual dexterity required for operating sewing equipment and handling fabric materials.
- Ability to lift materials as required.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and dust.
- Clear criminal record check required.
