Manager of Hospice Services

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Hospice Services provides strategic leadership to the Hospice Services department in accordance with the mission statement. This position is responsible to plan and implement all hospice community-based and hospice residence-based programming; monitoring and evaluating service provision and ensuring outcomes are appropriate. The Manager ensures appropriate and adequate human resources both staff and volunteers are available to respond to community needs and trends. In addition, the Manager is responsible to monitor and meet budgetary projections, commits to meeting privacy obligations and adhering to all health and safety requirements.

This position as part of the management team actively works to collaborate with all Community Care Northumberland staff, volunteers, stakeholders and community partners ensuring that individuals receive the support and services required within the mission, vision and values of the agency.

Education

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in sciences, health, business administration or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional certification in hospice palliative care specialty would an asset
  • Completion of 30-hour Hospice volunteer training from an accredited organization an asset

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a related position
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a management or supervisory role
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the non-profit sector

Professional Designations and/or Licenses

  • Current registration in good standing with a Regulated Health Professional or appropriate regulatory body an asset
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
  • A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

  • Strong understanding of hospice philosophy of care
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills

  • Superior communication and public relations skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Proven financial skills to develop and monitor budget
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Ability to work at multiple tasks with multiple interruptions
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, trustworthiness and accountability
  • Knowledge of the hospice palliative care sector, local partners and resources
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
  • Experience working with and supervision of volunteers
  • Access to a reliable vehicle

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $53,000.00 to $63,000.00 /year
