The Wismer House is a busy bar and restaurant in the heart of Downtown Port Elgin, and we are currently hiring for Summer, some jobs have the ability to become permanent after Summer for the right candidates.

We are a fast-paced work environment that focuses on team work. We believe that the people make the place, and are staff are very important to us. Our Staff gets to enjoy both a kickoff to Summer party on the May long weekend, as well as end of Summer party on the Labour day weekend.

All our staff receive 50% off their food, and discounted drink prices. All kitchen staff receive a tip pool and a free meal on every shift, security and bar backs are tipped out each night.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

SOUS CHEF

-Starting wage $16-18 plus tip pool, compensation will be set based on experience and skill level.

-Varied hours, some late nights, must be able to work weekends

-Full time

--Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.

-Candidates must have previous kitchen experience.

-Candidates must be able to effectively communicate with their team and management.

-Candidates must be able to call the line

-Candidates must possess their Smart Food Handling Certificate

-Some duties include but not limited to:

-Ensure that service goes smoothly, and food quality is maintained

-Run and call the line when the Chef is not there

-Supporting the Chef in the running of the kitchen as a whole

-Some ordering and inventory

-Delegating jobs to the kitchen team

-Prepping, stocking and portioning

-Preparing menu items for service

-Some dish washing

-Cleaning your station and participating in the cleanliness of the kitchen as a whole.
