Job Title: Surgical Coordinator/ Patient Technician

Key Responsibilities:
- Confirm patient’s name, date of birth, health card number, gender, phone number, address, e-mail, and doctor to verify patient.
- Accurately and efficiently complete paperwork and admin duties, including procedure consent, prescription, instruction package, etc.
- Perform reminder calls prior to each Laser clinic to ensure all times, location, eye, and post-op instructions are clear to patients and courtesy calls post-op to assure patients that any current symptoms are normal, or an earlier post-op is required.
- Initiatively fill in gaps and/or same day cancellation or reschedule patients to maintain proper clinic flow.
- Ensure patient understand their drops and post-op instructions and address any concerns they may have.
- Provide accurate prescription use instructions for each type of procedure.
- Book post-op appointments.
- Maintain after hours support line for post-op patients.
- Accurately and efficiently handle urgent procedure inquiries and communicate with doctor in cases of emergencies.
- Answer phone calls, voicemails, e-mails, and Oscar messages and assist in voicemail recordings and emails upon request.
- Accurately chart and document patient notes using EMR platform (OSCAR)
- Play role of main contact before and after procedure to patients
- Report statistics upon request
- Maintain professional relations with other medical offices and hospitals
- Manage and resolve patient complaints.
- Direct calls to other departments as needed.
- Ensure that all patient interactions are dealt with confidentially in accordance with practice protocols.
- In charge of surgical administration duties, not limited to hospital surgical entries and communication and hospital OR paperwork, etc.
Job Requirement
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience and a solid working knowledge of the specific work that is being carried out.
- Must completed Bachelor Degree in Life Science or relevant program.
- Medical terminology an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Decisiveness and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with necessary technology, including computers, software applications, phone systems, etc.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and resolving customer service and client issues.
- Demonstrates professionalism and patient service manners.
- Ability to multitask.
