The Scheduler is responsible for the scheduling and accurate pay coding for Operations employees within their designated department/functional area. Working directly with the managers/supervisors and the employees, this role is responsible for ensuring that the Lab/PSCs are staffed appropriately to meet the service objectives of the organization.

This is a Casual Role, based out of Surrey with varying shifts;

Monday to Friday from 5:00am to 1:00pm

Saturday and Sunday from 5:00am to 10:00am

Accountabilities include creating and assigning schedule templates, creating and assigning schedule patterns and communicating employee schedules.

Accountabilities:
  • Creates and assigns schedule templates and schedule patterns. Run workload planners (manage availability, calculate open shifts) and employee shift sets, to ensure employees work the correct days, follow the appropriate shift rotations and the department has adequate and appropriate employee coverage to meet the service objectives of the company.
  • Manage the call in list to ensure that appropriate coverage is available.
  • Responds to daily calls, replacing absent employees by assessing need and assigning available staff to ensure service objectives are met. Acts as first line of response for unusual early morning situations (break-in, power outage, alarm, snow,) elevating issues that cannot be easily resolved.
  • Monitors and updates Scheduling/Time entry data on a daily basis including the scheduling and confirming of training hours. Conducts new employee scheduling orientation and individual or classroom training as required.
  • Advises Managers/Supervisors in the application of regional scheduling guidelines and confirms consistency of scheduling practices. Informs Management of changes or trends in staff availability
Requirements:
  • Education: Community College
  • At least 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with Scheduling/Time Entry software is required. Previous experience working Kronos is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)”
