Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform excavation, trenching, backfill, grading, loading and site preparation
- Work safely around existing utilities and infrastructure
- Read and work from plans, grades and project requirements
- Coordinate and direct crew members when acting in a lead role
- Help organize day-to-day field activities, equipment and materials
- Identify field issues early and communicate them before they become larger problems
- Complete pre-use inspections and recognize equipment maintenance or repair concerns
- Maintain equipment in a clean, safe and professional condition
- Balance production with safety, workmanship and equipment care
- Perform labouring and general site duties when required
- Maintain professional communication with management, crew members, customers and subcontractors
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on heavy equipment operating experience, with strong excavator experience
- Significant experience in excavation, earthworks or civil construction
- Previous foreman, lead-hand or supervisory experience directing field crews
- Experience working from plans, grades and project requirements
- Experience excavating safely around existing utilities and infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
- Strong working knowledge of safe work procedures and equipment operation

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
