Do you love dogs? Like, REALLY love dogs? North Shore Dog Walkers is on the hunt for an enthusiastic, dependable Group Dog Walker to join our pack. You’ll be wrangling (lovingly) groups of dogs throughout the beautiful North Shore — rain, shine, and through the occasional squirrel-induced chaos. If you’re the kind of person who lights up when a dog walks into the room, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Lead groups of dogs on safe, fun and challenging hikes — tail wags and tired pups are the goal!
- Keep a close eye on the crew and handle any behaviours with calm confidence
- Clean up after all of the pups, keep them hydrated, and make sure everyone has a great outing
- Keep your gear tidy and trail-ready
- Give pet owners the kind of updates that make their day — great communication goes a loooong way!
- Follow company safety protocols (the dogs are counting on you to put their well being first!)
- Help out with feeding or medication when needed — training provided Safe driving - making sure the dogs are comfortable, safe and secure during transit
- What We’re Looking For
- A genuine, can’t-help-it love for dogs and that innate natural animal sense
- The ability to manage a group of excited pups without breaking a sweat (well no, actually you WILL sweat but that’s all part of the job!)
- Great communication skills — with dogs and humans
- Reliable wheels to get between client locations (contractor)
- No fear of a little rain (this is the North Shore, after all)
- Someone punctual, dependable, and ready to take direction
- Experience with dogs is a bonus, but if you’ve got heart and enthusiasm, we’ll take care of the training!
Compensation & Benefits
For a contractor using your own vehicle, you would be starting at $18/dog for the first 90 days, but then with a valid pet first aid certification you will be eligible for $19/dog and beyond. (If your brain works in terms of hourly wages— it works out to about $30/hour to start and goes up past $55 within two years.)
This role comes with a minimum one-year commitment but if you’re open to it—two or more is even better!
We’re building something great over here, and we want people who want to be part of it long-term. If you’re looking for only a summer job—this is not the job for you!
A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and criminal record check are required.
