The PChAD Program is a court-ordered detoxification and assessment program for youth aged 12-17 years, harmfully involved in substance use. Youth are confined in a Protective Safe House for a maximum period of 15 days to safely withdraw from substances, undergo a comprehensive assessment of their use, and receive recommendations on voluntary options post-discharge. Client Care Assistants are integral members of the therapeutic treatment team, providing a supervised, safe and secure environment for youth residing in the Protective Safe House. Using your experience working with youth in a residential care environment, you are responsible for engagement, relationship building, supervision and observation. You will ensure a safe and secure facility; facilitate client admissions and client/facility searches; participate in medication administration; assist with preparing meals; perform bed checks; assist with minor laundry and housekeeping duties; and, prepare bedrooms for client admissions. The position also provides supportive, daily care to the youth and assists in facilitating recreational and psycho-educational groups. As a key member of the program team, you will also attend shift exchanges and relay information in an effective and timely manner; review client files regularly; and, communicate observations to the team verbally and in written form. As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in addiction and/or mental health settings.
