Position Overview
The Site Superintendent’s responsibilities include working all members of the Emergency and Construction teams to document, inspect, and complete emergency jobs. The Site Superintendent works diligently with the Department Managers and Project Managers to efficiently and effectively restore commercial and residential buildings after they have experienced an emergency.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in writing and reviewing scopes of work to ensure accuracy of work as well as labour and materials required for completing the job

Develop a detailed materials list for assigned projects as per completed scope of work and approved budget

Assist the Project Manager in developing a flow chart that includes task timelines and project completion date

Coordinate all materials for delivery or pick up as required

Assist the Project Manager in developing Request for Proposals, selection of subcontractors, and completion of related documentation

Supervise and coordinate both production employees and subcontractors, and maintain orderliness, organization and quality control on the job site

Supervise large loss job sites including all coordination of staff, sub-contractors, engineers, inspectors, etc.

Update and maintain communications with Project Manager, Project Coordinator and Production Departments

Obtain necessary permits and meet with building inspectors as required

Provide Project Manager with detailed accounting services for billing process, including progress billings, open items, and necessary supplements

Complete all necessary project documentation including work authorizations, stage approval sign-offs, and completion certificates

Obtain signed change orders for all work not on original estimate

Complete minor deficiencies to acceptable quality standards

Assist with on site clean-up and debris removal as required

Develop and maintain professional relationships with relevant subcontractors

Respond to emergency calls and follow-through to completion

Ensure all relevant safety standards are followed according to Canstar and WorkSafe BC requirements

Who we are looking for:
A motivated, positive, safety-conscious attitude to getting the job done to a high standard in a timely fashion is a perfect match for a Canstar Site Supervisor. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction related projects including site visits, customer service, supervision of trades and sub trades and productivity/quality control. Every day is different, you will be moving between job sites as you progress them from start to finish. Other important attributes of a Site Supervisor are:

1+ years supervisory experience in a construction/restoration environment required.

8+ years hands-on experience in construction and/or carpentry required.
-
Experience working with a variety of structures (residential, commercial, institutional) required.

Experience working in the insurance restoration industry is considered beneficial.

The physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift.

A driver’s license and personal vehicle to attend on call sites is a must (mileage is reimbursed).

A great attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers. We have a fun and hard-working team and are looking for someone with the skills to complement them.

The ability to wear personal protective equipment to keep you safe on site, including a respirator. Facial hair that will allow you to wear a respirator safely is limited to a clean shave, a moustache and/or a small goatee. We enter people’s homes and drive company vehicles, so a clean criminal record as it relates to work and a drivers abstract with only minor infractions is required.

Qualifications

8-10 years of hands-on experience in construction and carpentry

Valid AB driver’s license with a satisfactory driver abstract. Truck capable of transporting materials and equipment is preferred.

Working Conditions
-
This position primarily reports out of the Edmonton office but is directly dispatched to work sites
-
This position works on job sites mostly within the Edmonton area but may be requested to work at job sites outside of this area
-
There is a considerable amount of driving required
-
Shifts vary but usually are from 8am to 4:30pm less a half hour unpaid lunch break
-
Overtime is required on a periodic basis

This position does have a component of on-call shifts on a rotation basis
