As our Director of Facility Operations and Maintenance, you’ll be a champion of change and efficiency, working with people across the organization to optimize facility management through continuous development strategies while providing strategic leadership.

Formulate and implement the strategic direction for the division to meet corporate goals and objectives.
Through highly effective leadership, influence and motivate teams toward the successful accomplishment of divisional and corporate wide goals and objectives. Drive a focus on strategic goals, building sciences, and objectives that promote customer service delivery and improve efficiencies.
Lead by example, coach and provide guidance to promote employee engagement and encourage increased morale, innovation and productivity to meet established goals and objectives.
Conduct performance management formal process and annual reviews.
Build and foster meaningful working relationships and collaborative arrangements with internal and external customers, stakeholders, business and community leaders, sponsors, public and media to meet the City goals and objectives.
Attend Council, Committee and Senior Leadership Team meetings, as required, to represent the division, provide expert advice and recommendations to influence decision-making that impact positive outcomes.
Review and approve business proposals, reports prepared by staff for presentations to senior leaders, Council, stakeholders and recommend changes as required to influence effective decision-making.
Develop, implement and communicate to the team in a collaborative manner within customer service standards.
Maintain an awareness of developments within the disciplines of the division to develop short and long-term plans and recommend innovative strategies for growth and expansion.
Anticipate, assess and evaluate internal and external risk factors that affect the organization such as technological and organizational practices and recommend business strategies to control risks and improve quality of services, resources and programs.
Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance of all laws, regulatory, judicial mandates, ordinances, legislative various acts, codes and by-laws set out by Federal, Provincial or Municipal levels of government.
Direct and control the divisional budget, ensuring approvals and spending are consistent with operating objectives to ensure budget compliance.
Ensure that all financial and procedural requirements are carried out in accordance with corporate financial policies.
Use of effective resource and expense management at all times to meet corporate policies and guidelines.
Team Work and Collaboration
Foster engagement, debate and building of consensus to achieve Service Plan goals and objectives.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve Service Plan goals and objectives while respecting diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Demonstrate success developing and implementing multi-faceted Service Plans for diverse stakeholders with wide-ranging impacts.

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Building Engineering Sciences, Architecture or Facility Management.
Project Management Professional certificate is an asset.
Minimum 7 years at the senior leadership level, preferably in Municipal environment.
Minimum 5 years leadership experience; proven ability to lead, influence, engage and motivate staff
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience managing a diverse portfolio of facility assets in a unionized environment.
Progressive experience in facility operations and maintenance.
Demonstrated experience in asset management.
Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing programs and activities.
Expert knowledge of Municipal, Regional, Provincial and Federal governments, applicable legislation and awareness of current social, economic and political priorities is an asset.
Highly-developed skills building relationships including public relations skills.
Highly-developed organizational skills; detail oriented, well organized and able to prioritize highly complex tasks with critical deadlines.
Highly-developed analytical skills for complex problem solving; fiscal and financial acumen.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft office/software.
