Reporting to the Community Youth Hub Team Leader, the Intake Worker will be responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the Community Youth Hub including supporting youth accessing services, case management activities, and ensuring that youth documentation and files are organized and current. Qualified candidates possess exceptional communication and de-escalation skills, work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and hold values that support our corporate vision of being “A community where youth are embraced and will thrive”.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitates daily programming in accordance with the standards and policies and procedures of Youth Opportunities Unlimited
- Providing ongoing assessment and completing serious occurrence reporting in a timely manner
- Working in collaboration with community partners to address the needs of youth and provide opportunities for improved system navigation and collaboration
- Working from a harm reduction model, to support participants who may choose to use substances
- Utilize successful de-escalation strategies to support youth experiencing trauma, mental health, or behavioral challenges in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Provide one-to-one coaching on life skills and brief mental health support
- Support with preparation of program materials and participate in case management activities as needed
- Receive, sort and organize donations from the community
- Ensure that youth documentation and files are organized and current
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed including appointment management, documentation, and filing
- Assist and maintain the general cleanliness of the Community Youth Hub including keeping workspaces tidy
Qualifications:
- Completion of post-secondary education at a college or university level in a human relations or social services field or combined equivalent education and a minimum of 2 years related case management experience
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health, trauma, and substance use challenges
- Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends on a rotating schedule
- Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- First Aid /CPR certification required, Suicide Prevention, Crisis Intervention, and Prevention Training (PMAB or CPI) is an asset
- Experience working with at-risk youth and extensive knowledge of local community-based programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Reliable transportation
Hours of Work
- Flexible scheduling depending on programming needs
- Day, evening, and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule
- 37.5 hours per week
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $21.17 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
