Job Summary
MacPherson Rentals and Bobcat of Whitehorse are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Rental Associate to join our team. This role involves managing rental operations, assisting customers with equipment and tool rentals, and supporting sales initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Bilingual or multilingual skills are highly valued to better serve our diverse clientele. Responsibilities
- Greet customers at the front desk and assist with rental inquiries in a professional manner
- Manage rental transactions efficiently using data entry systems and Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel
- Provide detailed product information, including equipment features and maintenance requirements
- Process rental agreements, returns, and payments accurately while ensuring compliance with company policies
- Promote additional rentals or sales through effective communication and customer engagement strategies
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rental area to ensure safety and efficiency
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment servicing and repairs as needed
- Support marketing efforts by providing product knowledge for promotional activities
- Handle phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately
- Assist in inventory management and stock organization to ensure availability of rental items
Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail sales, customer service, or front desk operations is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for administrative tasks
- Ability to negotiate effectively with customers to maximize sales opportunities
- Experience in sales management or outside sales is advantageous
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for rental equipment is beneficial but not required
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and teamwork

Job Responsibilities
As a member of our dynamic team, your responsibilities will include:
- Welcome customers at the rental counter, providing assistance and answering inquiries to help them select the right tools or machinery for their specific needs.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by promptly addressing and resolving any concerns or issues they may have.
- Educate customers on rental options, including hourly, daily, and weekly rates, as well as our rental terms.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of our most commonly rented tools and equipment, with the ability to consult our catalog for less common items, assisting customers in choosing the correct tool for their project.
- Review all customer paperwork for accuracy and completeness, maintaining meticulous rental records.
- Locate rental items for customers and ensure all returned items are cleaned and prepared for the next customer's use.
- Handle customer complaints with tact, respond to inquiries, and complete transactions efficiently.
- Compute charges accurately, accept payments, and provide change promptly.
- Offer valuable assistance, recommendations, and advice to customers regarding rental products.
- Foster a welcoming environment, making sure customers feel comfortable seeking assistance with their needs.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Fluent in English
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Strong organizational skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Class 5 Drivers License
Preferred:
- Knowledge of tools and machinery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- An interest in do-it-yourself projects.
- Basic computer skills.
