Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Biomedical Engineering, the Coordinator, Biomedical Engineering (BME) is accountable for the day to day activities of four site-specific Biomedical Engineering work groups that support and maintain medical equipment at six hospital sites (UH, VH, St. Joseph’s, RMH-L, RMH-ST, Parkwood), three Family Medical Clinics, and three Sport Medicine Clinics.

The role includes the coordination and monitoring of human and material resources to ensure long term departmental and organizational goals and objectives are achieved. The incumbent shall; maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, work with staff to achieve departmental metrics, ensure safety standards are met, complete performance development reviews, provide mentoring to staff, and ensure appropriate deployment of departmental resources.

The role includes development and support of a healthy workplace that fosters effective working relationships within the team and facilitates quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field
Community College diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology preferred
Certified Engineering Technologist designation (CET through OACETT) and certification as a Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET through the International Certification Commission) preferred
Minimum three (3) years experience in Biomedical Engineering, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital
Minimum two (2) years progressively more responsible experience in a leadership role, preferred
Demonstrated behaviours supporting the Core Values of LHSC – Compassion, Teamwork, Curiosity and Accountability
Demonstrated experience with the principles and practice of Shared Leadership
Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of labour relations and hospital operations preferred
Understanding of and experience with workload measurement, staffing/scheduling and budgeting an asset

Participatory leadership, team building and organizational skills
Excellent and effective abilities in both written and oral communication skills
Highly developed critical thinking skills and ability to conceptualize and analyze problems
