The Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor is a licensed Long-Term Care facility built on care, dignity and respect for all. Ottawa Grace Manor has 5 Resident Home Areas including one secure home area. Home areas are either 25 or 26 beds on each, for a total of 128 residents. Each home area is self-contained with its own dining room, lounge area, nursing station, laundry room, and activity room.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the Cook prepares food items, and organizes the serving of meals according to planned menus, production sheets and standardized recipes. Performs other related food service duties such as storage of supplies and maintaining cleanliness of the work space and the equipment. The cook is responsible of staffing and menu changes when the Food Service Manager/ Supervisor is away. Shifts may also be worked as a Prep Cook, paid at Cook rate.
Qualifications:
· Preference given to Red Seal Cook Certificate . If not then uncertified cook wages would
be given (range specified includes uncertified up to max of certified)
· 3 years of cooking experience cooking and following recipes
· Experience in a long-term care facility or similar type of environment
· Physically ability to carry out responsibilities and able to cope effectively with stress
· Ability to develop and maintain rapport with elderly residents
· Ability to work co-operatively with all staff and create a working climate that is positive and mutually supportive
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
· Commitment to the care of the elderly
· Ability to deal with others effectively
· Ability to organize work
· Ability to operate kitchen equipment
· Ability to attend work
· Knowledge of computers and computer software
· Able to meet physical requirements
· Ability to read and prepare recipes
Hours of work: Days 0600-1400/ Later 1000-1800 Availability to work every other weekend.
