About the Organization:
The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. (WTCI) is a not-for-profit organization whose role is to provide capacity-building opportunities for its member communities within the traditional Wolastoqey territory in New Brunswick. These member communities consist of Matawaskiye (Madawaska Maliseet First Nation), Wotstak (Woodstock First Nation), Bilijk (Kingsclear First Nation), Sitansisk (St. Mary’s First Nation), and Welamukotuk (Oromocto First Nation).

Position Overview:
WTCI’s Education Team supports children, youth and caregivers through a holistic integrated service delivery model called Wasisok Tomk (Kids First). Through our holistic approach we honour the whole person, including their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs, while celebrating their strengths and differences. This approach recognizes that all aspects of a person’s life are interconnected and supports them in living a balanced life.
We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team. Reporting to the Wasisok Tomk Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting children, youth, and caregivers through culturally responsive, evidence-based occupational therapy services across school, home, and community environments.
Key Responsibilities:
As a WTCI Education Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Provide assessments and interventions in a variety of settings including homes, schools, and community programs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community-based service providers.
- Build capacity in caregivers and educators to support the development of children and youth.
- Conduct both standardized and non-standardized assessments.
- Prepare and maintain documentation including chart notes and client reports.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Contribute to culturally safe, trauma-informed care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Embrace ongoing professional learning and contribute to a culture of continuous growth.
- Other duties that support team and organization initiatives.
Qualifications:
· Undergraduate or master’s degree in occupational therapy
· Registered and in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT) and Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
- Understanding of, and willingness to learn about, Wolastoqey culture, history, and language, with a commitment to culturally appropriate, holistic and trauma-informed practices.
· Experience supporting developmental challenges, behavioural needs, or neurodiverse diagnoses children and youth.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills when supporting and working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to work collaboratively with community members and professionals within Indigenous and non-Indigenous settings.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid driver’s license, registered vehicle, and insurance
- Completed Policy 701 training
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification
- Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe, and holistic practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Assets:
- Experience working in Indigenous communities
- Verbal and written communication skills Wolastoqey and/or French language
· Training in trauma-informed practices and a demonstrated understanding of the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma on Indigenous communities.

Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. offers competitive salary and benefits to our employees. The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00. Working location is 35 Dedham St, Sitansisk (Fredericton, New Brunswick).
