This role is open due to a long-term leadership team member retirement and there will be a crossover period with that individual upon starting this role.
Position Purpose:
The Infrastructure team supports the overall mission and goals of Mayfair. Mayfair’s mission is to provide the highest quality of diagnostic services to our clients, in partnership with hospitals and community practitioners. This is achieved through attracting and developing outstanding clinical and support staff, investing in state-of-the-art technology, and improving access by leveraging our digital network.
Reporting to a Radiologist Partner on the Executive Committee, the Director of Infrastructure will be responsible for the overall vision and management of a team dedicated to supporting the growth and development of our diagnostic imaging practice. This includes but is not limited to facilities (accreditation, licensing, management, lease renewals, maintenance and construction), project and third-party service contract management, purchasing, equipment (maintenance, QA, lifecycle management), occupational health and safety and risk, budget and CAPEX planning and management, participation in business development initiatives and other related functions and activities.
The Director of Infrastructure is an essential member of the leadership team, having substantial influence not only on business growth, but the overall culture direction of Mayfair. This individual will have a team of direct reports, many of whom also have support staff, making engagement, development and team culture key focuses for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities
- Manages the operation, upkeep and expansion of all Mayfair facilities and properties
- Point of contact for all landlords & property managers with respect to all property & lease matters
- Manages lease renewals
Risk Management and Regulatory
- Oversees the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) program and provides leadership to the Infrastructure Health and Safety Specialist
- Oversees the development and maintenance of the OHS & Clinical Quality Management Systems manual and ensures policies & procedures are adhered to
- Ensures all College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and Saskatchewan Ministry of Health (SK MoH) policies and procedures are in place and adhered to
- Manages and oversees all aspects of equipment and facility accreditation and licensing in AB and SK
- Assists Finance with annual insurance policy renewal, updates the facility & equipment Statement of Values information for the insurer and manages landlord insurance requirements
Equipment
- Researches, evaluates and makes recommendations for new equipment purchases
- Manages all tenders and requests for proposals for equipment purchases
- Manages disposition of used equipment
- Manages all equipment service agreements and vendor/supplier purchase contracts and pricing agreements
- Drafts the annual equipment replacement plan as part of the Capital Expenditure budget process
Business Development
- Participation in business development initiatives which consists of:
- Investigating business expansion opportunities and evaluating potential new clinic locations
- Managing renovations/expansions of existing facilities and all aspects of new facility design and development
- Creating budgets & project schedules for renovations and new facility development
- Managing lease negotiation & execution, ensuring all obligations stipulated in the lease agreement are met and adhered to
General Responsibilities
- Provides leadership to the Facilities and Construction Project Manager, Infrastructure Manager and their teams.
- Works closely with other members of the leadership team to ensure cross departmental collaboration for meeting of annual corporate objectives.
- Creates the annual budget for the infrastructure department, facility & equipment, repairs & maintenance, registration & radiation, and capital expenditures
- Assists in the development and implementation of processes to improve clinical efficiencies and streamline operations
- Maintain strong relationships both internally and externally with landlord and broker networks as well as third party service contractors.
- Keeps Leadership and Executive informed on all equipment and property issues
- Participate with the Executive Committee, Executive Chair and Managing Partners, and other members of the Leadership Team in charting the direction of Mayfair.
- Lead other projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The Director of Infrastructure will utilize a blended approach to the practical application of the infrastructure portfolio combined with a naturally strategic style in dealing with peer, executive and external relationships. This person will be capable of gaining the respect of executives, senior management, and staff for the ability to implement swift, competent and effective change. The Director will have a strong personal orientation in operational services, change management and be an analytical thinker and pragmatic problem solver.
To successfully direct and manage the portfolio, particular characteristics and skills are key for success.

- Proven organization skills including preparing management reports, presentations, and action plans.
- Proven strengths in leadership, team building, oral communications, and meetings management.

- Capable of defining and accomplishing strategies and tactics that will support the desired growth.

Education and Experience
- An undergraduate degree in a related discipline required, MBA is an asset.
- The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in property/facility operations with at least five years of related management experience.
- Experience in construction as it relates to facility design and property management is desired
- Strong strategic thinking ability and excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are considered essential.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Familiarity with Alberta’s Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations and Code
- A proven ability and track record of developing and engaging multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with SharePoint is an asset.
