Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Prep Cook/Line Cook to join our team at Fire & Spice - Taqueria. As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for assisting in food preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for cooking and a desire to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Basic POS and FOH interactions are required by nature in this kitchen and are included in our training program.
Responsibilities:
- Opening duties including making of rice, fresh tortillas, salsas and sauces, day prep items.
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and butchering meats
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in food quality
- Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment
- Assist with meal preparation during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service
- Help with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred
- Knowledge of basic food handling and preparation techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
- Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
