Job Summary
The role of operational estimator is a hybrid role that encompasses the skill set of a typical pre-construction estimator and a project coordinator. Duties that require an estimating background will include reviewing and analyzing drawing sets for scope changes, pricing change orders, preparing extent plans & work orders, understanding the tender process at pre-construction to successfully support operations, etc. Other operational support tasks will include material inventory tracking, field worker time card approvals for payroll, assisting with warranty and product submittal documents, and more. Candidates that are successful in this role will be learning the skill set for a trajectory into rolls such as assistant project manager, project manager, etc.
The successful candidate will be trained for all product / trade specific aspects of our various industries. Some of these industries include below grade waterproofing, spray fireproofing, spray insulation, spray foam, batt insulation, and firestopping. All candidates MUST
Expected hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Work location is at our office in Burnaby.
The position is full-time and includes benefits such as extended dental, medical, and RRSP plan. Wage is negotiable based on experience. There is no contract for this position, but we are generally looking for people to grow with our team and become an intricate part of our company going forward.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate must be very proficient in reading and understanding architectural drawings and experienced in all aspects of the tender process for commercial construction. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must as the candidate will be expected to communicate with client project managers, salesman to collect pricing and build budgets, and other estimators / team-members to properly assemble in-depth pricing proposals. The candidate should also be computer literate and be fluent in basic Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
Education - Any relevant post secondary is an asset. No specific requirements depending on experience.
Skills - Computer literate, strong communication, self-started, fast learner, etc.
Qualifications - While all applicants will be considered, we would expect that a successful candidate would have 5+ years of experience as an estimator in a field with overlapping traits.
Pay: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
