Description
Working closely with the Catering Manager and reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will oversee all activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking foods. This includes the production of all hot and cold food items, in addition to managing and training all culinary personnel in a high volume, business dining environment. Attention to detail in presentation is required, as well as knowledge of current food trends.

Qualifications
5+ years experience in culinary field or comparable role
2+ years experience with catering
Red Seal certified would be an asset
Completion of recognized culinary program
Strong knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
Advanced FST training.
Strong communication and team building skills
Experience with scheduling, hiring and training
Proven ability to multi task
Primarily business hours, Monday through Friday with the occassional weekend
Ability to stand for long periods of time and manage wide raneg in temperatures (ovens to freezers)
Capable of working in environment where noise levels can be high at times
Able to lift up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 100lbs
Understands metric/imperial conversions in order to prepare menus correctly
Able to work under pressure/attend to deadlines
