About The Role
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for coordinating, supporting and assisting in the development and execution of ongoing marketing programs that contribute to the growth of Choice business.
What will you do?
a. Manage and monitor content on all social media platforms including:
Creating the content calendar
Drafting branded content (i.e. designing an image or video clip along withwriting captions) and publishing content via Social Studio
Monitoring social media activity (e.g. tags, mentions, comments, direct messages etc.) and responding to users
Monitoring peers to better understand industry social media trends
Supporting the development of social media reporting, analysis and long-term strategy
b. Manage the process of reviewing and updating content on our external website, including the leasing components (e.g. property webpages and brochures) for our entire portfolio – 700+ commercial properties across Canada
c. Coordinate e-mail campaigns to market vacancies and new developments to brokers and retail groups while building and managing our subscriber list
d. Work with our development partners to coordinate media interviews and press conferences for high-profile projects
a. Work with our Property Management Team to organize engaging tenant events
b. Work with our Development Team to organize community events (e.g. town halls in preparation for a new development project)
c. Work with the Leasing Team to organize Choice’s participation in the annual ICSC Real Estate Conference
d. Work with the Investor Relations Team to organize “Investor Days” and our Annual General Meeting of Unitholders
e. Support Choice Cares, our employee-led community involvement program, by:
Researching and vetting charitable organizations to partner with each year
Facilitating employee surveys to determine campaign theme and charity partners
Leading our internal Choice Cares Committee to organize employee fundraisers
Assisting in the organization of our Annual Golf Classic – our marquee fundraiser for our business partners and vendors that grosses $350K annually
Brand Identity Gatekeeper
a. Review and approve design proofs for all branded marketing collateral including but not limited to: leasing brochures, tenant communications, property signage, unitholder reports, investor presentations, etc.
b. Ensure the organization and accessibility of brand assets including brand guidelines, corporate templates, stock photography, iconography, logos, etc.
c. Work with our brand agency to manage large design projects as needed by other departments including determining scope, coordinating budget approval, collecting design feedback from colleagues, etc.
d. Design net new marketing collateral as needed
a. For all of the above:
Define scope for vendors and coordinate budget approval with appropriate department heads
Define and measure KPIs for all projects
Develop project briefs and present status reports to the Manager, Corporate Marketing & Projects
Complete post-mortems with key stakeholders to continuously improve marketing programs
b. Provide support in completing peer research and create competitor activity reports as requested by Manager, Corporate Marketing & Projects
What will you need?
University or college degree in business, marketing or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
Project management experience – must be able to time manage effectively, comfortable managing multiple projects and be able to meet deadlines
2+ years of brand agency experience
Google analytics certificate an asset
Creative individual with graphic design experience – proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and video editing software
Proficient in MS Office applications especially Excel and PowerPoint
Strong communicator – experience in copywriting and excellent presentation skills
Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
Highly organized with a great attention to detail
Self-starter with a strong work ethic who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional interpersonal skills and seeks to build relationships amongst their colleagues
