In recognition of the service of health care excellence and increased demand in our community, the Ministry of Health and Long –Term Care announced the approval for a redevelopment of Bowmanville Hospital.

Under the forward thinking direction of the Board of Directors; and dynamic leadership of a strong management team, the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation has embarked on a bold new fundraising strategy to help meet the health care needs of this growing community.

In order to meet our strategic objectives, we would like other dynamic and forward thinking individuals to join our team. The Foundation is looking for a creative, self-motivated practitioner to take on the role of Major Gift Coordinator.

This role will provide research capacity, administrative and communication support to the major gift/planned giving revenue stream within our fundraising plans. The role is designed to give the team the resources and capacity to considerably grow the revenue from this area. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer, the Major Gifts Coordinator plays a critical support role in identifying potential major gift funding areas and assisting in generating proposals for individual and corporate giving. The incumbent will enjoy working in a support role, within a small team, and hold a contributory mindset to enable achievement of the Foundation’s financial targets. Previous experience or education in a fundraising capacity, coupled with exceptional writing and organizational skills will be critical.

Primary Objectives

 Coordinate cultivation and solicitation events for identified relationships. Each event may be a personal individual meeting or as a group event.

 Co-develop collateral material – proposals, reports, presentations etc. to enable the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, and key volunteers to cultivate and solicit major and planned gift relationships.

 Coordinate personalized stewardship activities for the Foundation’s most generous donors in conjunction with the Development Coordinator staff.

 Work with the Development Coordinator staff to send out reminder notices to donors who are in multi-year pledge commitment.

 Coordinate strategic communications from leadership to major gift relationships and donors.

 Manage the data as it relates to major gift and planned giving relationships pre gift activity.

 Ensure donor strategy process and calendar is streamlined and up to date.

 Support the Foundation’s major gift (campaign cabinet), planned giving, and prospect evaluation committee (s) by scheduling quarterly calls and meetings, administrative support to those meetings, and other duties that enhance the movement of the major gift and planned giving program.

 Attend cultivation and solicitation meetings as requested by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer and volunteers.

 Assist other Foundation members with tasks, projects and assignments as needed to enhance the Foundation’s fundraising strategy.

 Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in the area of fundraising, marketing, corporate communications, or sales will strongly be considered. However, work related experience will be given strong consideration for the right candidate.

 A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a fundraising capacity will strongly be considered.

 Exemplary organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.

 Superior communication skills, including demonstrated experience writing effective correspondence, reports, proposal and other print collateral.

 Understand confidentiality and willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.

 Meticulous attention to detail including excellent proofreading and copy-editing skills.

 Professional, positive, and approachable attitude. Ability to work and communicate with diverse group of people; including Board members, donors, volunteers, the public and staff.

 Ability to work as a team member as well as independently.

 Solid knowledge of MS Office -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge of other desktop publishing programs is desirable.

 Database management skills required with ability to produce reports and to use advanced functions.

 Knowledge of a constituent relationship management (CRM) system or donor database is preferred.

 Ability to think creatively and strategically.

 Ability to use discretion and diplomacy in dealing with donors, Board members, and colleagues and in handling confidential information.

 Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, background and orientations.

 Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences.

 Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

 Must be dependable and willing to work overtime as required

 Driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred
