Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education with Level 2 or higher certifications and a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and grow.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that fosters learning and development.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to build strong relationships.
- Educate children through play-based learning activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance educational programs and share best practices.
- Utilize technology to document children's progress and communicate with families effectively.
Requirements
- Education and Certifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 2) or equivalent qualification (required).
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Childcare certification or licensing as required by local/state regulations.
- Experience:
- At least 2-5 years of experience working in a licensed childcare center or similar setting.
- Proven management or supervisory experience within a childcare or educational environment (required).
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and learning frameworks.
- Familiarity with local/state childcare licensing requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of curriculum implementation and age-appropriate activities.
- Basic understanding of budgeting and resource management in a childcare setting.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate and support a team.
- Effective communication skills to engage with children, families, and staff.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to handle challenges proactively.
- Proficiency in using technology for administrative tasks, including email and childcare management software.
- Additional Requirements:
- A valid police clearance and background check to work with children (required).
- Flexibility to work during operational hours and attend occasional meetings or events outside regular hours.
