Job Summary:
The Engineering Operations Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering in Canada, assisting the VP of Engineering with managing Manufacturing Engineering in the U.S, managing Engineering Support and Industrial Engineering functions to support efficient, safe, and cost-effective production operations. This role oversees mechanical and electrical manufacturing engineering activities, industrial engineering initiatives, and supply chain engineering support to ensure successful product industrialization, continuous improvement, production readiness, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, the position serves as a key link between engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and production teams, driving standardization, process optimization, capacity planning, and manufacturing strategy across the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for ensuring proper transfer and intake of new projects from design engineering.
2. Responsible for supporting the build on the production floor together with design engineering group and work with QA, production and service.
3. Starting 2nd build, responsible to support QA, production and service. The scope includes maintaining BOMs, drawings and providing technical solutions.
4. Oversee development and implementation of manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, and production support systems.
5. Managing manufacturing engineering and process engineering teams in Canada.
6. Managing engineering support team and working in collaboration with design engineering.
7. Assist managing manufacturing engineering team in the US.
8. Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste and lower manufacturing costs
9. Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality teams to improve material flow, inventory strategy, and supplier integration.
10. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to manufacturing and production issues.
11. Manage redline drawings. Follow up with engineering on redline implementation.
12. Review new designs and help engineering to come up with efficient designs.
13. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Specific Qualifications:
1. College Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or University graduate of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years of engineering management experience in a manufacturing environment
2. 7+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
3. Experience with Solidwork and/or AutoCAD software
4. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes; lean manufacturing; industrial engineering principles; production systems; supply chain integration and continuous improvement methodologies
5. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing KPIs preferred.
6. Self motivated with strong organizational skills.
