Overview
BGC East Scarborough is seeking an Inclusion Resource Consultant to provide service to the child care community in accordance with applicable legislation and program funder requirements. The successful candidate will support the mandate of Inclusion Services while contributing to the organization’s mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with staff in licensed child care and early learning programs, as well as families, to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized strategies that support successful inclusion.
- Train staff in the use of screening tools to gather accurate developmental data.
- Support licensed child care programs’ capacity to provide high-quality care through observations, training, and resource sharing.
- Complete intake processes for new referrals.
- Assist families in accessing appropriate child care and early learning programs and support transitions to school settings.
- Organize and facilitate case conferences with families and professionals.
- Monitor implementation of case plans to ensure continuity and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with community agencies and professionals to exchange relevant information.
- Promote inclusive practices and increase awareness of Inclusion Services within the community.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate training opportunities for child care staff and parents.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with licensed child care and early learning programs within the service area.
- Refer educators to available professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, statistical data, and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Travel within Scarborough/Toronto as required.
- Supervise and support student interns, where applicable.
Qualifications & Skills
- Early Childhood Education diploma and current registration with the College of ECE (in good standing).
- Resource Teacher/Consultant certificate.
- Minimum two years’ experience supporting children with extra support needs in child care settings.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (or declaration).
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

- Thorough knowledge of child development
- Thorough knowledge of child care and family system approaches
- Ability to understand and apply relevant legislation such as Child Care & Early Years Act, 2014, Toronto
Children’s Services standards, and early learning frameworks
Employment Term
Contract Duration: July 2026 – September 2027 (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
