Position: Driver Meals on Wheel
Position Type: Part-Time Permanent (on-site)
Hours of Work: 15 to 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, from 10am to 2pm)
Compensation: $17.83 - $22.28 hourly

Position Summary:
This is a vacant position.
Responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to clients of SPLC for medical appointments, Day Programs, Shopping, Delivery of Meals, and other essential purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Provides driving services to community clients attending medical appointments, shopping and other activities
- Assists clients to board and exit vehicles and ensure all passengers are safely seated and secure
- Delivers meals to community clients in timely manner
- Carrying MOW lunch bag; walking distance include up and down the stairs when delivering meals
- Completes delivery check lists and submits reports on daily basis
- Communicates with the service team about clients’ feedback to ensure quality services
- Complies with all legislated safety regulations such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and organization and department safety policies and procedures including “Client Safety” and “Risk Management” policy statements
Qualifications:
- High School graduate with OSSD, or equivalent
- First aid and CPR certificate is an asset
- Hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License G Level.
- Hold a Clean Driving Record from a minimum of Three (3) years.
- Knowledge of Ontario Highway Traffic Act
- Ability to speak additional languages is considered an asset
- Work or volunteer experience in social services in multi-cultural communities is preferred
- Experience with transporting older adults to appointments is preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with frail or cognitively impaired seniors
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good customer service manner and observation skills
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions and temperatures
- High level of visual and mental concentration required to ensure passenger safety
- Long periods sitting and driving
- Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Clean Driver’s abstract required
