We are currently seeking an entry-level Product Furnacing, Level 1 to join our Furnacing Operations team. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Position Summary
The Diamond Products Operator – Furnacing, Level 1 is primarily responsible for preparing diamond drilling and grinding products for the furnace process. This includes preparing steel blanks, assembling products, dispensing metal powder and bond alloy materials, operating furnace-related equipment, stripping products from molds, and preparing as-furnaced products for the next stage of production.
This role requires attention to detail, safe work practices, accurate documentation, and the ability to work in a dusty and noisy manufacturing environment.
Shift and Training Schedule
This position is for the Evening Shift, working 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Monday to Thursday, (10-hour shift) plus the shift premium of $1.25 per hour. Initial training will take place on the Day Shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with a gradual transition to the evening shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Sandblast and prepare steel blanks for assembly.
- Assemble products using hydraulic press equipment.
- Dispense metal powder and bond alloy materials using digital scale equipment.
- Furnace process items using automated or manually operated induction or radiant heating equipment.
- Strip bits from graphite molds.
- Prepare as-furnaced products for machining using water-jet equipment.
- Maintain the work area according to continuous improvement guidelines.
- Use logbooks daily and complete required production records.
- Report all necessary work-related information on work order packages in accordance with quality management system requirements.
- Follow company Safe Work Procedures and Workplace Safety and Health requirements.
- Support product quality by ensuring work is completed accurately and according to requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Physical ability to lift and push loads of up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work in a dusty and noisy manufacturing environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be able to reliably commute to Dimatec’s Winnipeg facility.
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the above qualifications.
Skills and Competencies
- Familiarity with general manufacturing or production practices.
- Knowledge of weighing tools, gauges, measuring devices, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to learn new tasks, tools, equipment, and processes quickly.
- Comfortable working with digital scale equipment and production materials.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Demonstrated basic mathematical skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Flexible team player with a positive attitude.
