Our client, a well-established and highly regarded full-service law firm in downtown Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Assistant to join its collaborative Family Law group. Working closely with a Partner, Associate, and Paralegal, this role is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented legal support professional who thrives in a fast-paced practice and enjoys managing a variety of complex family law matters.
In this position, you will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support on a broad range of family law files, assisting with document preparation, court processes, scheduling, file management, and client communication. The successful candidate will be highly organized, capable of managing competing priorities, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.

Prepare correspondence, family law agreements, pleadings, and court documents

Coordinate court dates, mediations, examinations for discovery, and trial schedules

Arrange court filings and communicate with registries, opposing counsel, and clients

Track court deadlines, limitation dates, and critical file milestones

Assist with preparation of application records, trial briefs, exhibits, and other litigation materials

Manage lawyer calendars, appointments, email correspondence, and bring-forward systems

Maintain and organize files from opening through to closure

Support monthly billing and account management processes

Transcribe and edit dictated correspondence and legal documents

Provide exceptional client service and regular client communication

Perform general administrative and practice management duties as required

Completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant certificate or diploma is preferred

3+ years of legal assistant experience, ideally within family law or litigation

Strong knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation processes

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active files and deadlines

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation

Professional, empathetic, and client-focused approach

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

Experience with iManage/FileSite, DivorceMate, and legal accounting software is considered an asset
