Let’s help you launch your career with BVR Veterinary Supplies (“BVR/AVL/Solvet”)! We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Compounding Lead to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).
THE ROLE
The Compounding Lead oversees daily veterinary compounding operations, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, compliance, and efficiency. This role provides technical leadership to compounding staff, supports regulatory compliance, and serves as a subject-matter expert for veterinary formulations across multiple dosage forms.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Lead and perform non-sterile and/or sterile veterinary pharmaceutical compounding (oral liquids and powders, capsules, topicals, injectables, transdermals, etc.).
- Troubleshoot compounding issues and deviations; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Supervise, mentor, and train compounding assistants.
- Ensure staff competency through ongoing training and documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with NAPRA, USP and provincial veterinary and pharmaceutical guidelines.
- Maintain SOPs, batch records, logs, and quality documentation.
- Support audits, inspections, and internal quality reviews.
- Coordinate daily workflow, staffing, and production schedules to meet turnaround times.
- Monitor inventory of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and supplies.
- Collaborate with purchasing and management to ensure quality sourcing and cost control.

IDEAL FIT
Education & Experience
- RVT or Pharmacy Tech Designation
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a veterinary clinic or pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years of leadership roles experience

- Strong attention to detail with a focus on lab cleanliness and sterility

REQUIREMENTS
- Criminal Record Check
- Medical Clearance
- Safety Training including TDG and WHMIS
- Provincial registration in the appropriate governing body (ABVMA/VTA or ACP)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- On-site in SE Calgary
- GMP compliant facility
- 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday)
- Daily interaction with chemicals, API’s and hazardous materials
