The Role

Hiring from within Edmonton area, R3 Deconstruction is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for operating equipment on demolition and deconstruction sites, while also supporting hands-on demolition work when equipment operation is not required.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is comfortable in equipment but also willing to jump out and support the crew to keep projects moving.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, and other machinery on demolition sites
Perform demolition and deconstruction work using equipment in a safe and controlled manner
Follow site plans and direction to complete work efficiently and accurately
Conduct pre-use inspections and basic maintenance on equipment
Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns
Work closely with Foremen and crew members to coordinate site activities
Assist with demolition and labour tasks when equipment is not in use
Support site setup, material removal, and clean-up
Follow all company safety policies and site-specific procedures
Complete daily reporting to management
Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
Maintain awareness of surroundings, utilities, and structural conditions
Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards
Maintain professional conduct on client sites

Requirements:

2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or demolition environments
Experience operating equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and similar machinery
Valid operator certifications/tickets (asset)
Strong understanding of job site safety practices and hazard awareness
Ability and willingness to perform physical labour when equipment is not in use
Physically able to work in demanding conditions (lifting, bending, working outdoors)
Valid driver’s license
