The Manufacturing Technician I supports the Manufacturing Engineering team by providing day-to-day technical support to production, maintaining engineering documentation, collecting and organizing process and test data, and assisting in the implementation and validation of manufacturing methods, tooling, and process changes. Working under the guidance of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Engineers, this role helps ensure approved methods are executed consistently on the production floor and that routine follow-up activities are completed accurately and on time. The Manufacturing Technician I contributes to production readiness, issue resolution, documentation control, and continuous improvement in a mixed-product technical manufacturing environment.
Support daily production needs by responding to routine floor issues, assisting with troubleshooting, and escalating complex issues to the Manufacturing Engineers or Manufacturing Engineering Manager as needed.
Update and maintain work instructions, build instructions, visual aids, and related manufacturing documentation based on approved engineering changes.
Collect, organize, and maintain production, testing, validation, and other manufacturing data as directed by the engineering team.
Support routine floor follow-up to verify implementation of approved process changes, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
Assist in issue investigation and root cause analysis by gathering data, observing processes, and supporting corrective action follow-up.
Assist with time studies, labor validation activities, and other work measurement data collection under engineer direction.
Support testing, validation, and trials for new or improved products, processes, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing systems.
Assist with setup, tracking, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and other manufacturing aids used in production.
Work closely with production, quality, product development, supply chain, maintenance, and fabrication resources to support manufacturing objectives.
Support continuous improvement projects focused on capacity, quality, waste reduction, and manufacturing efficiency.
Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives through implementation, follow-up, sustainment, and action tracking activities.
Support safe manufacturing practices by following plant safety requirements, maintaining organized work areas, and assisting with safe process implementation.
Diploma or certificate in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production support, or engineering technician environment; relevant co-op, internship, or hands-on project experience may be considered.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, production support activities, and engineering documentation in a manufacturing environment.
Experience or familiarity with technical writing for process documents such as work instructions, build instructions, standard work, or test procedures.
Ability to collect, organize, and accurately record production, process, or test data for engineering analysis and follow-up.
Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings.
Hands-on interest in machines, tools, fixtures, and shop-floor support activities.
Demonstrated analytical thinking and practical problem-solving ability.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through on assigned tasks accurately.
Ability to organize and manage multiple assigned tasks and priorities with direction from engineers or supervisor.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to update process documents and prepare summary reports.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment with production, quality, product development, supply chain, and related support functions.
Willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
