Position Summary
Bursey Excavating & Development is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Controls Coordinator to support the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects. The successful candidate will support planning, monitoring, reporting, cost control, scheduling, project accounting, and financial performance tracking to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules.
- Track project milestones, critical path activities, and overall project progress.
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
- Track labour, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production costs.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Work closely with the accounting team to support project accounting functions, including job costing, cost allocation, accrual tracking, and financial reporting.
- Assist with progress billing, payment applications, accounts receivable tracking, and contract revenue monitoring.
- Participate in monthly project financial reviews, including cost-to-complete forecasting, profitability analysis, and variance reporting.
- Utilize Jonas Construction Software to review project financial performance, monitor job costs, and generate project reporting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project performance reports and dashboards.
- Track RFIs, change orders, site instructions, and contract deliverables.
- Support project meetings and maintain action logs and project documentation.
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in project controls, project coordination, cost control, scheduling, project administration, construction accounting, or construction operations.
- Experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, earthworks, road construction, underground services, mining, aggregates, or industrial projects is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with project accounting, job costing, progress billing, cost forecasting, and monthly project financial reviews is highly desirable.
- Experience working closely with accounting and operations teams to support project financial management is considered an asset.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Experience with construction ERP and project management systems.
- Experience with Jonas Construction Software, including job costing, project accounting, progress billing, cost reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis, is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of construction budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting practices.
Pay: $75,000.00-$108,000.00 per year
