Position Overview:
The Aerospace Designer / Aerospace Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing aircraft design data, technical drawings, modification packages, and supporting documentation for aircraft projects. This role will work closely with engineering, production, quality, project management, and maintenance teams to ensure designs are accurate, practical, compliant, and suitable for installation.
The ideal candidate has strong aircraft design experience, understands the importance of airworthiness and documentation, and is comfortable working in a hands-on aviation environment.

They will help reduce delays by answering technical questions, resolving design issues quickly, and supporting the team during installation, testing, and final documentation.
A successful Aerospace Designer / Aerospace Design Engineer will also show strong attention to detail, good communication, and a commitment to safety and airworthiness. Their work will help ensure aircraft projects are completed efficiently, correctly, and to a high standard of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare aircraft design drawings, models, layouts, and technical data packages.
- Design and support aircraft modifications, installations, and repairs.
- Prepare or support engineering orders, drawing packages, installation instructions, test procedures, and compliance documentation.
- Review drawings and technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformity.
- Support structural, mechanical, avionics, electrical, or interior modification projects, depending on experience.
- Work with production and maintenance teams to resolve technical questions during installation.
- Liaise with engineers, technicians, project managers, quality staff, suppliers, and customers as required.
- Support certification, airworthiness, and continued airworthiness documentation.
- Assist with design changes, drawing revisions, and configuration control.
- Support troubleshooting, prototype installations, inspections, and aircraft testing where required.
- Ensure all work follows applicable company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical field.
- Experience with aircraft design, modification, repair, manufacturing, or maintenance support.
- Experience preparing technical drawings and design documentation.
- Working knowledge of aircraft structures, systems, avionics, interiors, or mechanical installations.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA V5, or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to check work for accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced aviation environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 to 12+ years of relevant aerospace design or engineering experience.
- Experience in an AMO, DAO, MRO, aircraft modification, or aircraft manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Transport Canada requirements, airworthiness standards, STC/LSTC processes, or repair design approval processes.
- Experience with sheet metal, machined parts, brackets, panels, wiring, harness routing, avionics installations, or interior modifications.
- Experience creating certification plans, compliance reports, test procedures, or instructions for continued airworthiness.
- P.Eng., EIT, or eligibility for registration with the applicable provincial engineering regulator, where the role requires engineering practice.
- AME licence or aircraft maintenance background would be considered an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Government of Canada’s Controlled Goods Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily facility-based position
- Ability to travel occasionally for conferences or training as required
Pay: $65,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
