In this dual-purpose role, you will divide your time between running the floor, maximizing customer flow, delegating tasks, ensuring top-tier service, and executing our comprehensive training program. Key Responsibilities1. Floor Leadership & Team Coaching
- Customer Flow Management: Actively monitor and manage customer traffic (from browsing to bean scooping, payment, and drink pickup). Dynamically shift staff to matching stations to prevent bottlenecks.
- Smart Delegation: Fairly distribute daily tasks (Barista, Till, Beans, Floor, and Cleaning) across the team. Assign responsibilities and follow through on a clear communication plan to verify completion.
- Coaching & Culture: Act as a developmental coach on the floor. Provide real-time feedback, celebrate big wins, offer genuine compliments, and maintain a positive, drama-free environment.
- Empowered Resolution: Manage customer complaints with discretion. Balance strict policy with customer retention goals, offering dynamic solutions to keep our community loyal.
2. Daily Operations & Task Management
- Opening/Closing Accountability: Check in with opening staff to confirm the previous close met standard, follow up on uncompleted tasks, and supervise the closing shift.
- Operational Staffing: Navigate sudden sick calls or shift switches. Monitor real-time sales against staffing forecasts to keep labor efficient, finding extra cleaning or stock tasks during slower periods instead of sending people home early.
- Inventory & Logistics: Ensure all online, phone, and parking lot orders are accurately filled, store shelves remain fully stocked, and food product levels are monitored throughout the day.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Use ClickUp, WhatsApp, and face-to-face check-ins to share critical daily data with the team and management.
3. Team Training & Professional Development
- Onboarding & Preparation: Ensure trainees are equipped with Cupper's training modules and guide them through critical self-reflection questions before practical instruction begins.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver training using varied methods to accommodate all 5 elements of learning (Hear it, See it, Question it, Discuss it, Do it).
- Performance Assessment: Evaluate employee progress by using collaborative methods, including ongoing knowledge audits.
- Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback from trainees to audit, refresh, and update internal resource materials, keeping our training modules fresh and relevant.
- Strategic Scheduling: Manage the training timeline, spacing out practice opportunities over time to ensure deep understanding and active retention.
- Employee Retention & Turnover: This role is responsible for managing employee retention & turnover.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Secondary School / High School Diploma (Required).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years experience retail management (Required). Proven experience in retail sales, team leadership, or staff training is highly desirable.
- Physical Stamina: This is a physically demanding role requiring high energy the stamina to stand, move quickly, and multi-task for 6 to 8 hours amid frequent interruptions is paramount.
- Availability: Must be available to work a flexible daytime schedule between 8:30 AM and 5:45 PM. 40 hours, 5 days max. Saturdays required.
- Core Skills: Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, excellent verbal communication, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently or collaborate seamlessly with a team that extends beyond the retail floor.
- Social Skills: Able to make appropriate eye contact and casual small talk. Remembering customers names. Engaging in appropriate light hearted conversations and dealing with sometimes awkward situations.
