Fairfield Inn & Suites Ottawa Kanata has an existing vacancy for a Guest Service Agent. This position will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the reception team in our one-of-a-kind pretty incredible hotel.
Your Role
Reporting to the Guest Services Manager, the Guest Service Agent will:
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times with guests and team members;
- Comply with all company standards and brand standards, if applicable;
- Interact with all guests during check-in and check-out procedure;
- Create and cancel reservations as required, handle check-in and check-outs;
- Greet all incoming and outgoing calls in a professional and timely manner;
- Review logbook, and emails daily and complete all tasks on the checklist;
- Maintain proper operation of Front Desk telephones, be familiar with daily sell rates;
- Balance and prepare individual paperwork for closing of shift with hotel standards;
- Work closely and maintain proper communication with all hotel departments;
- Handle guest registration and room assignments, accommodating special requests whenever possible;
- Handle guest check-ins/check-outs in accordance with hotel credit/cash handling policies in an efficient and friendly manner;
- Resolve customer complaints; assist customers in all inquiries in connection with hotel services, in-house events, directions, local attractions, check cashing, gift shop, safety boxes etc.;
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor or department manager.

- Strategize and deliver result-driven sales plans that hit revenue targets and expand market presence—across all segmentation markets.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with corporate clients, event planners, agencies, and more.
- Collaborate on marketing materials, proposals, presentations—and make them pop.
- Monitor performance metrics and steer adjustments to optimize results.
- Negotiate deals that benefit both clients and our brand.
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as operations, finance, events, and programming to guarantee exceptional results and guest experiences.
- Stay sharp on market trends, competitors, and customer needs—and let your insights drive innovation.
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum two years’ Guest Services or hospitality or service industry experience;
- Previous supervisory responsibilities preferred in a customer facing and/or hospitality position;
- Highly interpersonal; comfortable engaging with all guests, visitors, vendors, and team members;
- Thrives in a fast-paced high-pressure environment-maintaining composure and objectivity;
- Demonstrated ability to interact in a team environment with several divisions/ departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential;
- Computer literate in property operating systems such as Opera, Maestro., as well as being proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) is an asset;
- Ability to work flexible shifts which may include but not limited to days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required by management and the operations.
