We are seeking an experienced Structural Design and Airworthiness Engineer to join our Design Approval Organization (DAO). Reporting to the DAO Manager, this role expands SKYTRAC's structural analysis, substantiation, and certification capability to support an increasing volume of concurrent STC development programs. You will lead structural engineering activities across aircraft modification programs, interface with regulatory authorities, and work closely with avionics and systems engineers to deliver compliant, airworthy designs.
This is an in-office position, based in Kelowna, BC. Relocation support is available.
As a Structural Design and Airworthiness Engineer, responsibilities include:
Structural Analysis & Substantiation

Lead structural analysis and substantiation activities for STC programs, including equipment mounting, airframe modifications, and aircraft installations

Perform or direct stress analysis, fatigue analysis, damage tolerance assessments, and repair evaluations as required

Develop and review structural certification deliverables, including substantiation reports, load analyses, and engineering drawings

Ensure designs comply with applicable structural airworthiness requirements (FAR/CAR 23/25/27/29, as applicable)
Certification & Compliance

Develop structural means of compliance and certification plans for STC programs

Prepare and review compliance documentation in support of TCCA, FAA, and EASA certification approvals

Support aircraft surveys and installation reviews to verify structural integrity and compliance

Interface with the DAO Delegate, Transport Canada, and foreign authorities on structural certification matters
STC Program Support

Support multiple concurrent STC development programs in structural engineering capacity

Collaborate with avionics, systems, and mechanical engineers to ensure integrated, airworthy designs

Review and approve supplier structural documentation and equipment qualification data relevant to installation design

Develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) content related to structural inspections and maintenance
Technical Leadership

Serve as the DAO's primary subject matter expert in structures and structural certification

Mentor junior engineers on structural analysis methods and certification documentation requirements

Support DAO governance activities, including ACC participation and process improvement initiatives
What You Bring
Candidate Must Have’s
-
Engineering degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering

Minimum 3+ years of experience in aircraft structural analysis and certification
-
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility

Demonstrated experience with STC structural substantiation and certification approval processes
-
Strong knowledge of applicable structural airworthiness regulations (FAR/CAR 23/25/27/29)

Proficiency in structural analysis methods and tools (FEM/FEA, classical methods)

Willingness to travel as required

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 CAD. The range posted is a guide and may not represent the compensation offered to the successful candidate. Compensation is based on the skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications brought to the role.
