Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core Trainer (Full-time)
Reporting to the Director, Underground Centre, the Trainer will be responsible for training students in the Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core MLITSD P#770010 modules. This is a full-time position, and work hours are based on a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, day shift only. On a day-to-day basis, the Trainer will work with trainees, teaching them the fundamentals of hard rock mining. The emphasis of the training delivery method will be on practical, hands-on training.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of trainees on a day-to-day basis, teaching them the fundamentals of hard rock mining and ensuring delivery of training complies with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) standards as outlined in the Standards Booklets for the following modules:
- U0000 Follow Surface and Underground Induction Procedures
- U0001 Perform General Inspections
- U0002 Scale Loose Rock
- U0004 Drill Rock
- U0005 Rock Bolt Ground
- U0006 Blast Rock
- U0010 Muck with LHD
- U0011 Extend Services
- U0012 Lock Out and Tag on Prime Movers and Related Equipment
- U0014 Forklift Operation
- Duties would include teaching the students to drill and bolt with jackleg and stopper drills, blasting, mucking with LHD, extending services of air and water, locking and tagging, erecting wooden staging, and skills that pertain to the mining cycle.
- Ensure adherence to NORCAT safety policies and procedures.
- Provide support and/or administer select training and development programs as needed.
- Perform mine maintenance and other work at the Underground Centre as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be certified in Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core MLITSD Program # 770010 (please submit official transcript for review).
- A minimum of ten years of underground mining experience is required.
- Minimum five years of training experience required.
- A certificate in the ‘Train the Trainer’ program would be an asset.
- Strong leadership, multi-tasking and communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
