The Local QSHE Manager (LQM) oversees implementation and continuous improvement of Kuehne + Nagel’s Integrated Management System across assigned business units. The role ensures compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, Environmental, Security, and Dangerous Goods regulations, meeting internal and external requirements. It includes managing DG risks, ensuring audit readiness, and supporting regulatory compliance. The LQM acts as a governance lead and business partner, influencing operations without direct authority.
Management Review & Performance Governance
- Participate in Annual Management Reviews
- Align Global, Regional, National, and Client targets
- Track and monitor action plans
Integrated Management System
- Lead IMS implementation, maintenance, and improvement across sites, covering:
- Quality, Security, Health & Safety, Environment, and Dangerous Goods
- Ensure compliance with KN standards and regulations (e.g., GxP, ISO)
- Drive effectiveness through KPIs, audits, TIPs, CAPA, and reviews
Quality Management and Compliance
- Oversee QMS, including:
- Document control (KNDocs), SOPs, work instructions, and forms
- Training matrix, record retention, and traceability
- Supplier qualification
- Maintain CAPA/TIP program: tracking, root cause analysis, timely closure
- Support audits (internal, customer, regulatory) and ensure readiness
- Follow up and close audit findings
- Support KNChain certifications (e.g., PharmaChain, SecureChain)
- Investigate complaints, quality events, and non-conformances
Dangerous Goods (DG) Program
- Ensure compliance with KN Canada DG Program and Transport Canada requirements
- Train and support DG Coordinators and LQRs
- Oversee DG governance, including: risk assessments, documentation, inventory, reporting
- Manage restricted DG approvals and compliance validation
- Support DG audit readiness
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure Health & Safety program implementation and compliance
- Support JHSC meetings, inspections, and reviews
- Oversee JSAs, incident investigations, corrective actions
- Ensure emergency preparedness (plans, drills)
- Monitor safety performance and reporting
Environmental Management
- Support EMS implementation
- Coordinate risk assessments, reporting, and sustainability initiatives
- Support compliance, campaigns, and spill drills
Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Maintain risk assessments across H&S, Environmental, DG, Security, and Operations
- Update Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and support annual testing
Documentation & System Governance
- Maintain controlled documentation in KNDocs
- Ensure records are current, compliant, and audit-ready
QSHE Governance
- Oversee site QSHE governance, including:
- JHSC activities, Environmental reporting, DG compliance, and security controls
- Ensure roles are defined, trained, and compliant

- University or college degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or Safety Engineering
3+ years of progressive QSHE (Quality, Security, Health & Safety, Dangerous Goods, Environmental) experience, preferably in logistics, distribution, or regulated industries
3+ years of experience in a logistics distribution facility
Working knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and EN9100 as applicable), including Integrated Management System (IMS) principles and audit requirementsKnowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks, including GxP and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations
Strong understanding of Dangerous Goods (DG) classification, storage, handling, and risk management, including awareness of National Fire Code requirements
Familiarity with DG-related systems (e.g., SDS platforms, DG data tools) is an asset
Knowledge of QSHE systems and tools, including incident reporting, security reporting, and training systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in French and English (English-speaking clients)
