Your Opportunity:
VAW seeks a a versatile, high-impact CAD Automation Engineer to bridge the gap between our digital design environment and physical production. In this unique role, you will wear three critical hats: a CAD Programmer developing custom automation tools, a CAD Software Manager overseeing our design infrastructure, and a Manufacturing Engineer optimizing our shop floor processes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. CAD Programming & Automation (60%)
· Develop, test, and deploy custom plugins, macros, and APIs (VB.NET, C#) to automate design tasks and products within our CAD environment.
· Build parametric modeling tools and configurators to streamline the product development lifecycle.
· Integrate CAD data seamlessly with downstream ERP, PLM, and MES databases.
2. CAD Software Management & Administration (10%)
· Serve as the primary administrator for our CAD software suites (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD).
· Manage CAD templates, software licensing, and version upgrades.
· Provide technical support and training to the design and engineering teams.
3. Manufacturing Engineering (30%)
· Design and develop standard and custom products using approved design standards, templates, and procedures.
· Create and maintain detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings to support manufacturing and assembly.
· Ensure that all designs meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
· Coordinate with Manufacturing, Project Management, and other departments to resolve technical and production-related issues.
· Participate in design reviews, ensuring designs are optimized for performance, cost, and ease of manufacture.
· Support product development initiatives and contribute to engineering process improvements.
· Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all assigned design work.
· Actively seek mentorship and professional development opportunities to advance designer skills and knowledge.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience working with the specified programming languages, with a background in mechanical design.
Technical Skills
- CAD: Proficiency in CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Inventor).
- Programming Skills: Strong coding skills in languages used for CAD API customization (C#, VB.NET).
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience and knowledge with machining, fabrication, assembly processes.
Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex software and mechanical issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex software concepts.
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple competing priorities.
