Overview
Ascendant is a global provider of international business to business payment solutions based in Canada with operations in US. We are searching for a Marketing Content Creator to join the Marketing team to help bring Ascendant's brand, products, and campaigns to life through engaging content and creative storytelling.
This is an entry-level, hands-on execution role for someone who loves creating. You'll product messages, campaign ideas, and customer stories and transform them into compelling content across a variety of formats, including social media, video, graphics, presentations, sales materials, web content, and event assets.
You’ll work closely with marketing, sales, and product teams to create content that helps simplify complex topics and position Ascendant as a modern, trusted leader in global payments.
We're looking for someone who is creative, curious, and resourceful. The payments industry can often feel technical or outdated. We want someone excited to help make it more approachable, relevant, and engaging. We’re not just someone who can “make content,” but someone who can operate with initiative, momentum, curiosity, and good judgment in a fast-moving B2B environment.
This role is ideal for an early-career marketer with strong storytelling instincts who wants broad exposure across many areas of B2B marketing.
The role is a one-year maternity leave contract with the possibility of extension. It’s based in Toronto and is required to be in office 4 days week.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):
- Create content across a variety of formats, including: social media graphics and posts, short-form video and video editing, formatting presentations and sales materials, product brochures and one-pagers, event marketing assets, website content and landing pages, customer stories and case studies, infographics and visual explainers.
- Help execute marketing campaigns that support lead generation, product launches, events, and brand awareness initiatives
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to turn complex financial and technology topics into clear, engaging, customer-friendly content
- Support website content updates, content publishing, SEO optimization, and basic performance tracking to help improve user engagement and conversion.
- Ensure brand tone, messaging, and visual consistency across all marketing materials
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Stay current on marketing trends, content formats, AI tools, and emerging best practices, while identifying opportunities to improve content effectiveness, engagement, and campaign performance.
Who you are:
- A self-starter who takes ownership and follows through
- Organized and dependable with strong time management skills
- Curious, creative, and motivated to learn
- Comfortable working independently and moving projects forward without constant direction
- Someone who enjoys simplifying complex topics into visual content that feels clear, human, and useful
- Adaptable and open to feedback in a collaborative environment
- Interested in marketing, fintech, technology, media, storytelling, or digital content creation
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
- Experience creating content for digital platforms such as social media, blogs, email, websites, or video
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience in marketing, content creation, communications, social media, journalism, freelance creative work, or related fields
- Familiarity with SEO, CMS platforms, social scheduling tools, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, or analytics tools
- Experience using AI tools to support content creation and research
- Basic video editing, graphic design, or multimedia content experience
