Our crews rely on a diverse fleet of trucks, chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, aerial lifts, trailers, chainsaws, and specialized equipment to safely deliver exceptional tree care services.
We're looking for an Equipment Mechanic to help keep our fleet operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. If you enjoy solving mechanical problems, working independently, and taking pride in maintaining equipment that people depend on every day, we'd like to hear from you.
This role is ideal for someone who wants variety in their work and enjoys working on everything from heavy equipment and diesel trucks to hydraulic systems and small engines.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Fleet & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, aerial lifts, and other equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues
- Complete inspections and repairs to ensure equipment remains safe and operational
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on operational needs
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Identify root causes of equipment failures
- Perform diagnostics using tools, testing equipment, and manufacturer resources
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation before returning it to service
- Work proactively to prevent recurring issues and reduce downtime
Shop & Inventory Management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
- Track maintenance records and service history
- Manage parts inventory and identify replenishment needs
- Coordinate parts ordering and vendor relationships as required
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure equipment meets company safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Complete inspections and documentation accurately
- Report recurring equipment concerns or safety risks
- Support a culture of equipment accountability throughout the organization
Team Support
- Work closely with operators, arborists, and management to understand equipment issues
- Provide guidance to field staff on equipment care and preventative maintenance
- Support emergency repairs when operational demands require it
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- Experience repairing and maintaining trucks, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and small engines
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Experience
- Licensed Heavy Equipment Technician, Truck & Coach Technician, or Automotive Service Technician
- Experience working on arborist, landscaping, construction, or utility equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with aerial lifts and hydraulic equipment
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
