Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated General Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up and running serial production of our most produced cutting tools, ensuring efficiency and consistency in a high‑volume production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production Manager, responsibilities include:
- Perform machine setup and teardown, including fixturing
- Operate multiple machines simultaneously under guidance
- Read and interpret blueprints, prints, and job travelers
- Calculate dimensions, angles, and offsets for cutting tools using basic math skills
- Set and adjust tools using micrometers, scales, gauges, and other measuring devices to achieve specified cuts
- Inspect parts using measurement tools such as micrometers, microscopes, and shadow graphs to ensure dimensions meet tolerance requirements
- Follow established written procedures and comply with all safety regulations
- Perform basic maintenance on production and processing equipment
- Recognize when grinding wheels require dressing and perform dressing according to specifications
- Wash, package, and prepare finished products for storage or shipment
Requirements **
- Experience running multiple machines at the same time; experience with carbide materials and/or EDM preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is an asset
- Must be accustomed to dealing with changing work environments, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Availability to work 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with afternoon and Saturday overtime as required
