POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently looking for a Controller to join our Finance Department. The Controller partners with the CFO & Finance team to deliver timely financial data and strategic insights to the leadership team through financial reporting packages as well as timely and efficient month end close procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee financial department employees, including financial accountants and assistants.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and manage rolling financial forecasts across all departments.
- Provide detailed variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget) to the leadership team and department heads.
- Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and working capital requirements.
- Manage and comply with tax reporting requirements and tax filings (corporate tax, HST, payroll tax, etc.).
Operations & Internal Controls
- Oversee daily revenue auditing, including Point of Sale (POS) reconciliations for golf tee times, pro shop retail, F&B, and Hospitality.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal control policies to safeguard resort assets and minimize shrinkage.
- Manage F&B and retail inventory controls, performing regular physical audits alongside department managers.
- Oversee the accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions.
Operational Partnership
- Partner with department leaders in Golf Operations, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Events, and Property Operations.
- Develop financial reporting tools and KPIs for business units.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and revenue enhancement.
- Support pricing and revenue strategies, and margin/profitability analysis.
Qualification & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management required. CPA, or CMA designation is highly preferred.
- Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in a supervisory role within a resort, hotel, country club, or golf course environment being an asset.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency with hospitality/golf management software and property management systems (PMS) is heavily weighted. Advanced Excel skills are a must.
