Parks Division is responsible for infrastructure management and development for both Alberta Parks and Public Lands to ensure outdoor, nature-based recreation opportunities for all Albertans that are safe, sustainable, accessible and enjoyable, while balancing conservation values.
The Visitor Services Supervisor (VSS) plays a key role in delivering high-quality and consistent visitor services within Alberta’s provincial parks. The position is responsible for coordinating campground registration, booth operations, retail services and the provision of timely as well as accurate information to the public.
As a Visitor Services Supervisor, you will provide leadership to a team of seasonal staff through seasonal training, guidance, and day-to-day direction. You will ensure high quality customer service standards, efficient operational procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met while supporting the implementation of operational plans as well as service delivery priorities.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Operate and deliver the Alberta Parks campground reservation/registration service in area parks.
- Oversee retail operations including product research purchasing, and maintaining inventory in the campground store
- Work with other Park Teams to ensure campground compliance and park operations.
- Provide leadership to seasonal staff to ensure efficient registration booth service delivery and high-quality customer service.
- Manage budget and revenues generated by Visitor Services program including tracking expenditures, payment systems management, revenue reconciliation and reporting.
- Recommend and implement improvements to area operations.
- Be responsible for the review and accuracy of all area park communication products including webpage content and printed materials.
- Support the operations of the Miquelon Lake Park Centre.
- Carry out a range of administrative functions related to the Visitor Services Program.
This role requires strong judgement, problem-solving skills and a commitment to service excellence. You will need to work strategically and operationally and make decisions ranging from simple to complex.

Some travel within Alberta will be required. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) is required. A vehicle will be provided once you report to work, however you are responsible for transportation to and from Miquelon Lake Provincial Park where the position is located. There are no permanent on-site housing options available for this position.

Required:
- Expertise using computer systems for data entry, email communication, and reporting (including Microsoft Office, point-of-sale systems, or reservation systems).
- Point of Sale and revenue process and reporting experience.
- Supervisory experience and skills for a diverse work environment.
- Conflict resolution and visitor management experience.
- Ability to perform Occupational Health and Safety requirements and apply safe work procedures in daily operations.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by operational demands
Assets
- Experience preparing and maintaining staff schedules.
- Experience training staff on procedures, systems, or service standards.
- Experience handling cash, completing daily cash-out procedures, and preparing revenue reconciliation records.
- Knowledge of Tourism and Destination Marketing, Retail industry, Organization and Time Management Customer Service
- Knowledge of parks legislation, land use policy, and environmental planning frameworks in Alberta.
The successful candidate will be required to submit the following to be cleared for hire:
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Valid three-year driver’s abstract
- Criminal Records Check
- A current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
- WHMIS Certification

This position is a full-time permanent opportunity, 36.25 hours a week.
The standard working hours for this position are 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., totaling 36.25 hours per week. The regular work schedule is Monday to Friday from October to April. During the summer operational period (May to September), the scheduled workdays will shift to Tuesday through Saturday; however, alternative days off may be arranged as required. Occasional evening shifts may also be required.
This position may involve travel throughout the province. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) and be willing to travel as needed.
