Position Overview
We're seeking a highly detail oriented individual to work within a hybrid model at Zimt Chocolates. The packaging associate component will be accompanied by some other very fundamental operations components including some facility cleaning, as well as some ingredient weighing & record keeping . This role is ideal for an efficient, reliable individual who takes pride in executing every step of the chocolate and confectionary packaging process with precision and care, and who has a willingness to learn about the packaging process, chocolate making process, and also occasionally interact with customers at our take out window. You'll work with manual packaging jobs and also learn how to operate our packaging equipment, utilizing it as much as is warranted. Start Date: June 2026 (16+ hours/week leading to more hours in August, 2026)Location: Central Vancouver (close to transit)Reports To: Owner
Key Responsibilities
- Adhering to required metrics for packaging efficiency
- Record keeping for product packaged including lot numbers, packaging used, packaging date etc. in accordance with our packaging log
- Ensuring each finished product represents Zimt in the highest light
- Keeping a clean and organized work station
- Communicating in a timely fashion where there are any potential issues with product quantity or quality
- Execute all packaging processes with precision, following our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure consistent quality across all packaging runs with careful attention to every detail
- Basic cleaning and facility upkeep (sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, etc.) according to our cleaning schedule
- Communicating with manufacturing regarding finished product, and quality control
- Occasionally servicing our take out window and showcasing your knowledge about our chocolate, veganism, and sustainability with our customers.
Packaging Operations
- Keep packaging tidy and organized, communicating supply needs
- Follow food safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Learn how to operate and maintain our packaging equipment day-to-day
- Support with facility maintenance and occasionally switching on/off a machine for production
Required Qualifications/Essential Experience
- Previous experience working with packaging is an asset
- English fluency is an asset
- Cold hands are an asset when dealing with chocolate
- Friendly, helpful communication skills with customers
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (full shifts)
- Capacity to lift boxes and bins of packaging (max 40 lbs)
- Manual dexterity for detailed packaging work

- Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control standards
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
- Time management skills and ability to meet packaging deadlines
